I was raised in Fort Collins, Colorado. I have my doctorate in physical therapy and my husband is a first responder. Together we have two amazing boys who keep us on our toes.
My dream has always been to own a bakery dedicated to quality.
Background
My First Passion
I gained a love for decorating cakes while working at my family’s ice cream store. When we moved to Arizona for my doctorate degree, baking became my stress relief and an icebreaker when meeting new people. I was always the person who would bring sweets to parties, work functions, and get togethers. After hearing “Why don’t you own a bakery?” enough times, I have decided to take a leap of faith. It has taken years to perfect my recipes. There have been fails, and tears, along the way but in the end, all of the tribulations are worth it when I see the excitement and enjoyment on people’s faces when they try my sweets.
What Baking Means To Me
Desserts are about more than just something yummy to eat. I believe people have an emotional connection with baked goods. A cookie can remind someone of a Saturday afternoon spending time with their grandma. A birthday cake can remind someone of their favorite childhood memories. A mini pumpkin cake can bring back memories of fall; a slight breeze blowing though the falling leaves.
For me, baking connects me with three special people in my life. First my grandma, who taught me how to make her secret pie crust. I can always count on her for an honest opinion. Second my dear friend Sydni who every week would give me a new recipe to try. I would go home, add my changes and share end result with her. Many of my recipes started off with her help. Third, another dear friend Kathryn who owned a bakery tucked up in the mountains. She always believed in my talent, even before I did. To this day I still use many of the baking supplies she passed on to me.
